Bootsy Collins is back. The legendary funk legend has shared a new single “Funk Not Fight” featuring Fantaazma and Baby Triggy.

The invigorating track is tried-and-true to Collins’ psychedelic template, yet designed as a worldwide stage to make logical arguments that positively push back on violence.

Collins accompanies “Funk Not Fight” with a supporting visual. It’s a familiar affair, featuring some of Collins’ many friends, including Marcus Miller, Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, Buckethead, Victor Wooten, and Cindy Blackman. It can be viewed below.

“I just like to say, check out my latest video. Funk, not fight. We just wanna calm down some of that violence out there. Cause y’all know that it ain’t right! Come on now. Jump on board. Let’s get the One! For being funk, and not fight. Yeah that’s right baby,” says Collins.

“Funk Not Fight” is Collins’ first offering from his forthcoming compilation of the same name.

According to press materials, the project will “promote peace, reduce violence and unrest in disproportionately affected communities, and spread joy through the power of music.”

Guests set to appear on Funk Not Fight include Steve Lacy, Zapp, Syleena Johnson, Hi-Tek and Tommy Davidson. Baby Triggy, Gary “G7” Jenkins and Dreion, who appeared on Collins’ seasonal banger “Boot-A-Claus: Here 4 a Reason,” will also make the tracklist.

Moreover, Funk Not Fight will be the catalyst for up-and-coming artists, such as singers, rappers, poets, and instrumentalists, who have submitted original music to be featured on the album.

When the album drops, which has yet to be announced, all its proceeds will go toward assisting enterprises of all sizes that support the prevention and reducing violence and social unrest in communities.

The Power of the One, an album that featured George Benson, Ellis Hall, Branford Marsalis, and Snoop Dogg, was released by Collins in 2020.

Thanks to Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak), Collins had a splendid 2022. He was featured on the duo’s hit single “After Last Night” alongside Thundercat. It went to No. 1 on R&B radio and Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, giving Collins and Thundercat their first chart-topper on both lists.

In March, Collins contributed to BLK ODYSSY’s new song “Honeysuckle Neckbone.”
