Dylan Sinclair is enamored with a “Fly Girl” who inspired his latest single’s title and lyrics.
On the swaggering jam, the Canadian singer is super geeked that he could bag one of such a dashing woman and can’t help put her on exhibit for other men to drool over. He catches himself wiping his bottom lip after salivating at the sight of the masterpiece.
“Keeping this girl round me she’s / Squeaky clean / Head to her feet / Fit is too fresh, Febreze / Ay / Big stepping for me / She wanna get nude / I told her the fit is too rude,” Sinclair sings.
“Fly Girl” is Sinclair’s first single since his “Open (Remix)” featuring Destin Conrad and Jvck James, released last fall. The updated version is lifted from his No Longer in the Suburbs (Deluxe) EP. Three other new tracks were part of the project’s expanded edition.
No Longer in the Suburbs was originally released on May 11, 2022, via Five Stone Records. It featured the original version of “Open” as well as the previously shared tracks “Suppress” and “Lifetime.”
In a 2022 interview with Rated R&B, Sinclair shared what he hoped fans would get from listening to No Longer in the Suburbs.
“I went through a big period of growth over the past two years of working on this project. I want people to kind of experience their own [personal growth] from listening to the music,” Sinclair told Rated R&B. “It’s very different than my last project. For people that have been following me from then can hopefully see the growth and be inspired by it.”
He added, “For new listeners, I want people to have a good time listening to my music, either a really good time with songs like ‘Open’ [and] ‘I’m in It’ or a comforting time because I definitely have to sing songs like ‘Lifetime’ and ‘How Dare I.’ It’s an outlet for me and it’s how I express myself.”
This spring, Sinclair’s featured appearance on Savannah Ré’s “Last One” took the JUNO Award for Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year. It was Sinclair’s first JUNO Award.
Sinclair is scheduled to perform twice in London, first at All Points East Festival on Aug. 26 and then at the Village Underground on Aug. 30. The latter show Sinclair headlines.
