Goapele continues to release new music. The R&B veteran has shared “Purple,” the second taste of her forthcoming studio album, COLOURS.
On the hypnotic track, built around a fuzzy electric guitar, Goapele sings about feeling helpless when entangled in a seductive mist created by a captivating lover.
“Feel just like a fool / For you, I’d break the rules / The way my heart is opening / I’m wondering if you feel it, too,” Goapele sings.
As noted above, “Purple” is the second offering from Goapele’s impending album, COLOURS, due this fall via Skyblaze Recordings.
In July, she released the album’s lead single “Time Heals” featuring Keyon Harold, Derrick Hodge, Chris Dave, Mike Aaberg, and Errol Cooney.
COLOURS “promises to be a kaleidoscope of musical experiences, showcasing Goapele’s versatility and innovative spirit,” according to press materials.
Regarding the collaboration, Goapele told Rated R&B, “I got to work with BJ The Chicago Kid on it, who I have been wanting to work with for a while, and we have been trying to figure out how to synergize. A mutual friend, Corn, produced the track, and I wanted a hard-hitting song, an 808 love song type of vibe, and it’s kind of how to show us in a relationship.”
When asked about the inspiration behind the title of Dreamseeker, Goapele told Rated R&B, “It represents that I am still a work in progress of slowly realizing my dreams, and I know there is so many other people seeking their dreams out there that are on the way, and I just really wanted to tap into that.”
Goapele’s last full-length album was 2014’s Strong As Glass. The album opened at No. 16 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart. It included the singles “Hey Boy” and the title track.
Earlier this year, Goapele teamed with Raheem DeVaughn for his song “Love Around the Clock.”
