Award-winning musical director and bassist Adam Blackstone has released his first holiday album, A Legacy Christmas. It’s a jazz-infused collection of Christmas classics and winter-themed originals.
The 10-track effort includes Blackstone’s inimitable versions of joyful favorites such as “Little Drummer Boy” featuring BJ The Chicago Kid and “Joy To The World” featuring gospel vocalist Lena Byrd Miles.
Other praiseworthy tunes, such as the Boyz II Men-guested “Greatest Gift” and “Legacy Christmas Time” featuring Andra Day, deserve a listen.
A Legacy Christmas also features the lead single “Christmas Kisses” which showcases Keke Palmer plot to make out with Santa.
Blackstone is set to perform at NBC’s Christmas in Rockefeller Center on Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. ET.
His holiday run continues with appearances at Blue Note Jazz Club in New York on Nov. 27 and Dec. 6.
Blackstone is nominated for two awards at the 66th Grammy Awards, scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 4.
He is up for Best Jazz Performance for “Vulnerable (Live)” and Best Jazz Instrumental Album for Legacy: The Instrumental Jawn.
At the 2022 Grammy Awards, Blackstone scored a nod for Best Traditional R&B Performance for “‘Round Midnight” featuring Jazmine Sullivan.
The remake appears on Blackstone’s debut album, Legacy, which was released last September. Other guest appearances on Legacy include Jill Scott, Queen Latifah, Cory Henry, Mary Mary, DJ Jazzy Jeff and more.
