KALLITECHNIS is ushering in a new era. The rising Canadian singer and songwriter has released a sultry new single, “Soft Life.”
Regarding the inspiration for the song, KALLITECHNIS exclusively tells Rated R&B, “It’s a new script I wrote on love as a recovering people-pleaser. I think it’s really important, especially as a woman, to be able to be confident and firm about what I want my romantic love to look and feel like. It’s really easy to fall into the trap of our conditioning and look to others for approval or validation when it comes to what makes us feel good.”
She continues, “The song is about knowing exactly what my pleasure and tenderness look like and knowing my worth. Basically, if I share my SOFT LIFE with you, you should treat it like the privilege that it is!”
“Soft Life” is KALLITECHNIS’ first proper single since her EP, It’s Not Personal, released in 2022.
Her new track also is the lead single, or she as describes, “one color of many,” from her forthcoming project, MOOD RING.
About the impending release, KALLITECHNIS tells Rated R&B, “It’s a collection of the different colors of love. Love takes on so many different shapes and emotions. I wanted to capture how multi-dimensional it can be on one project. There’s a mood in there for all of the phases. I’m excited for people to see themselves in the songs. It’s really my best work yet.”
KALLITECHNIS plans to roll out additional music from MOOD RING in 2024.
Let’s jump back into It’s Not Personal. The seven-track EP includes guest appearances by JAYLIEN and Beach Season. She broke down each track with Rated R&B and talked about how the project reflected where she was a woman and creative at the time.
“I’m so excited that this project is me right now. In a sense, it’s the most vulnerable I’ve ever been because it’s just my headspace right now: my insecurities, the internal battles, the external ones,” explained KALLITECHNIS.
KALLITECHNIS released a standalone track, “Lights Off,” in June 2022. She also collaborated with different artists, such as the duo Kirouac & Kodakludo, Sagun, Young Saab and Cartel Madras.
