Robin Thicke has teamed with producer and multi-instrumentalist Stevie Matthew for a new collaboration, “Hotel.”
Produced by Matthew, “Hotel” is a slick groove that hears Thicke wanting to make love like it’s a honeymoon. “We don’t gotta get married / We can take it to the hotel / I’m thinking that we can do what lovers do oh so well,” he sings.
Speaking on his collaboration with Thicke, Matthew shares: “Making this record with Robin was crazy for me. He’s an absolute genius. I kind of got to pretend that it was 2002 and make something like the music I grew up on.”
He continues, “It’s all real instruments: strings, horns, drums, guitars recorded across like five of the most legendary LA studios. Written with my favorite bros (Tony Ferrari + Dewain Whitmore Jr). I definitely felt like I was dreaming through the whole thing.”
“Hotel” is the follow-up to Matthew’s 2023 debut single, “a song to make out to,” with Olivia Holt.
According to press materials, Matthew has upcoming songs featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Leon Thomas, Rich The Kid, and more.
As for Thicke, he recently performed at the Super Bowl Soulful 25th Anniversary Celebration in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show also featured performances by Earth, Wind, & Fire, T-Pain, Mickey Guyton and more.
Last year, Thicke hinted that his ninth album is on the way. “New album coming soon,” he told his fans in an Instagram post. The album is expected to include his Yo Gotti-assisted single “Brown Liquor,” released in 2022.
