Sinéad Harnett is back with her third album, Boundaries, via Thairish Limited/Right Hand Co.
The featureless album consists of 16 tracks, including the previously released “Say Something,” “Thinking Less,” “The Most” and “Burn.”
On Boundaries, Harnett embarks on an introspective journey through personal transformation. Part of this growth involves acknowledging past traumas while giving herself the space and grace to move onward — in life and love.
The album begins with Harnett falling for a love interest (“Shoulder”) before it goes downhill (“Thinking Less”). “How you gonna switch it up? / We were on the road to good beginning of / Real love,” she sings in the latter track.
On the acoustic-driven “Unfamiliar,” which features production by D’Mile, a guarded Harnett is apprehensive about putting her heart on the line. “A little bit of pressure / I’m running from the headlights / And I don’t wanna get too close to you,” she sings.
Harnett went to social media to share the inspiration behind Boundaries. “This album is about healing. It’s about ending unhealthy habits and relationships. It’s about finding the strength to put yourself first so that you can resolve the things that hurt. It’s about realising that ‘no’ is a full sentence,” Harnett wrote in an Instagram post. “Mostly, it’s been about taking my inner child into my arms and reparenting her. Telling her it’s gonna be ok. Saving her.”
Harnett continued, “If this album does anything for you, I hope at least it gives you permission to do that for yourself. We are all broken in some way, but in a sense, this makes us all part of something: alone, together sending you all my love honeyyyyys, #BOUNDARIES is yours today – GO SET THEM BBY!!!!”
