Muni Long has another potential hit with her new single “Make Me Forget.” It was co-produced by Tricky Stewart, MOMBRU, and Jehreeus.
On the soul-stirring ballad, which interpolates D’Angelo‘s “Untitled (How Does It Feel),” Long opts to see the silver lining amid relationship challenges.
“So speak to my heart, babe / Speak to the queen in me / Though we might disagree / Don’t say nothing you don’t mean,” she sings.
Regarding “Make Me Forget,” Long explains, “To me, it’s like a warm bath. It’s a love letter. It says, ‘You’re not perfect. We’ve got a lot of things to work on, but can we focus on the amazing feeling we have when we’re together?”
“Make Me Forget” is the follow-up to Long’s blazing single “Made For Me.” The heartfelt song was certified platinum by the RIAA earlier this month for selling over one million equivalent units.
On Billboard, “Made For Me” is No. 61 on the Hot 100 in its 19th week. So far, it has peaked at No. 20 on the popular singles chart.
Last week, Long released her Mariah Carey-assisted remix of “Made For Me.”
“When I got the call from [Jermaine Dupri] to work on the ‘Made For Me’ remix, I said yes immediately,” Carey shared. “Muni is an amazing writer and performer, and this collaboration is a match made in heaven!”
“Made For Me” and “Make Me Forget” are lifted from Muni Long’s sophomore album, due later this year on Supergiant Records/Def Jam Recordings.
The untitled project will follow her 2022 debut project, Public Displays of Affection: The Album. The latter project included Long’s Grammy-winning single “Hrs & Hrs.”
This summer, Long will join Chris Brown on his headlining 11:11 Tour.
