After releasing “After Hours” in April, Kehlani is back with their new single “Next 2 U.”
They co-wrote the devotional anthem with DIXSON and Ant Clemons.
“You’re more than the sun, you’re why the sun beams / Your love is high, wide like a river,” they sing.
Kehlani teased “Next 2 U” in an Instagram post earlier this month. “Wanna drop my favorite one next?” they wrote in the caption to a video of them singing along to a snippet.

“Next 2 U” and its predecessor “After Hours” are lifted from Kehlani’s new album, Crash, out June 21 on Atlantic Records.
Speaking on “After Hours,” Kehlani told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, “Coming out of this pandemic to global tragedy, to global tragedy to global tragedy, I was like, ‘I’m not really in a space of wanting to make something that feels super jarring or super sad.’”
They added, “I’m very outspoken about these things, but I want my art to provide some kind of life and fun, and I want to go outside. I want to hear this outside, and I want to feel good. So I focused just on making something that feels really good. The second we finished it, we just couldn’t stop listening to it. Then we tested it at the club and in the car. It was so fun.”
Crash is the follow-up to Kehlani’s 2022 album, blue water road. The album debuted at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart. It featured Justin Bieber, Jessie Reyez, Syd, Blxst, Thundercat, and Ambré.
