The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has announced Fantasia will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Grammy-winning vocalist, who made her debut 20 years ago, is among the 2025 class in the category of recording.

“Little girl from High Point, North Carolina, made it to the @hwdwalkoffame,” Fantasia wrote on Instagram. “Wow!!!! I’m lost for words. God Kept every Promise.”

After winning American Idol in 2004, Fantasia released her debut single, “I Believe,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Fantasia’s debut album, Free Yourself, was released on Nov. 22, 2004, via J Records/19 Recordings.

The Grammy-nominated album included hits like “Truth Is” and the title track, written and produced by Missy Elliott.

Since then, Fantasia went on to release five more studio albums: Fantasia (2006), Back to Me (2010), Side Effects of You (2013), The Definition Of… (2016), and Sketchbook (2019). The latter album marked Fantasia’s first independent release under Rock Soul Productions.

“Bittersweet,” from Back to Me, scored Fantasia her first Grammy win (Female R&B Vocal Performance) at the 53rd Grammy Awards in 2011. The heartfelt track was written and produced by Chuck Harmony and Claude Kelly, who later formed the duo Louis York.

Fantasia also released her first holiday album, Christmas After Midnight, in 2017.

Other Walk of Fame honorees in the recording category include The Isley Brothers, Prince (posthumous), Busta Rhymes, Depeche Mode, Los Bukis, The B-52s, Green Day, George Strait, Keith Urban, and WAR.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2025 was announced live from Ovation Hollywood on Monday morning (June 24).

Steven Nissen, president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Walk of Fame actors Niecy Nash and Joe Mantegna, and legendary music producer Jimmy Jam announced the new honorees at a live press conference.

“The Walk of Fame has made history again! As Chairman of the Walk of Fame Selection Committee, I am thrilled to announce the distinguished honorees who will grace the iconic Walk of Fame in the Class of 2025,” said Peter Roth, chairman of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Roth added, “Each honoree truly embodies the essence of excellence in their respective fields. The committee and I cannot wait to see our honorees becoming part of this world-famous walkway!”

Dates have not been scheduled for these star ceremonies yet. According to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, “Recipients have two years to schedule star ceremonies from the date of selection before they expire.”

Ahead of receiving her star, Fantasia will be honored at the 2024 Black Girls Rock! Awards, which will be taped June 27 in Atlanta. The multifaceted entertainer will receive the Black Girl Magic Award. The ceremony will air Aug. 1 on Lifetime.
