SWV helped NPR close out Black Music Month with a show-stopping Tiny Desk Concert.
The legendary R&B group took the in-studio audience and viewers on a 25-minute expedition through some of their most iconic hits.
Backed by a full band and background singers, SWV opened their set with “I’m So Into You” from their 1992 debut album, It’s About Time. They transitioned smoothly into their beloved “Right Here (Human Nature Radio Mix)” from the same album.
“Y’all remember those songs, right?” Lelee said, following the opening numbers. “Those of you who’s been following SWV throughout the years, you know we kind of took a little beating for the team because our music was a little risque.”
“We were the girl group who wasn’t afraid to tell the world what we wanted. This next song got us in a lot of trouble, but you guys loved it,” Lelee chuckled before they went into “You’re The One” from 1996’s New Beginning.
The rest of the set included more signature hits from their ’90s run, such as “Rain” and their Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper, “Weak.”
SWV closed their nostalgic performance with “Anything (Old Skool Radio Version).” They did not perform material from 2012’s I Missed Us and 2016’s Still.

In other news, SWV is on their co-headlining Queens of R&B Tour with Xscape. Fellow ’90s acts Mýa, Total, and 702 are the special guests.
“702, Total, Mýa, SWV, and Xscape have all weathered storms and are still here and better than ever,” said Mona Scott-Young, whose company, Monami Entertainment, is producing the tour with Live Nation. “We are so excited to bring the fans an incredible and undeniable performance experience that truly celebrates R&B music.”
The Queens of R&B Tour wraps up Aug. 18 at Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
