Musical genius Stevie Wonder has released his new song “Can We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart.”
The hopeful acoustic guitar, delicate drums and hushed piano set the backdrop for Wonder’s call for unity in these polarized times.
“We’ve been floating alone in a dark and bitter cold / ‘Cause there’s a growing ocean of lies that we’ve been told / To tear us down / But what I’ve found Is with our truth, compassion and love / We can fix our nation’s broken heart,” he sings before a harmonica solo.
“Can We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart” is Wonder’s first solo release in four years.
In 2020, he simultaneously released two songs: “Where Is Our Love Song” featuring Gary Clark Jr. and “Can’t Put It In The Hands of Fate” featuring Rapsody, Cordae, Chika, and Busta Rhymes.
The powerful tracks were released via Wonder’s So What The Fuss Music in partnership with Republic Records/Universal Music Group. All proceeds from “Where Is Our Love Song” and “Can’t Put It In The Hands of Fate” benefited Feeding America.
In 2020, Wonder teased that he was working on an EP and a full-length album, Through The Eyes of Wonder.
When asked to compare the two projects, Wonder exclusively told Rated R&B the EP would feature “motivational and inspirational” songs and the album would cover “many different things” he has experienced over the years.
Since his 2020 singles, Wonder has collaborated with Elton Jon (“Finish Line“), Cher (“What Christmas Means To Me“) and most recently, Gary J. Clark Jr. (“What About The Children“).
Wonder’s last album, A Time To Love, was released in 2005.
