R&B singer and songwriter Emanny has returned with his new EP, Before H3R.
The three-track project opens with “B.D.E.,” short for ‘big d—k energy,’ which is also the current single.
On the confident come-on, Emanny tells his partner not to be afraid to ask for what her body desires in the bedroom. “Don’t be afraid to let go / So if you want it that much / Come get this energy,” he croons.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, Emanny exclusively tells Rated R&B, “I remember going to bed the night before creating this record, listening to nothing but classic soul records and thinking, ‘Most of these songs have standout but simple bass lines.’
He continues, “I said to The Nukez Muzik, the producers of ‘B.D.E.,’ ‘This is what we need! Find a way to take the core elements of our classic soul/R&B records and just update it. Give the audience of today the same energy those songs of the past gave me.'”
Before H3R also includes the slow-burning “Atl,” in which Emanny tries to save a sinking relationship. He ends the mini project with “Don’t Give Up,” his plea to his woman for grace and forgiveness.
Before H3R is Emanny’s first project since his 2023 EP Sept 18th. His new EP serves as a transitional project as he prepares to release his next album, Songs About HER 3.
“It feels great to be back in a free creative space musically. I have a true love and passion for performing but an even greater love and passion for creating projects,” Emanny tells Rated R&B.
“To have an idea or concept, start the process of making it, and turn it into a finished product is a different joy. Each project for me is like giving birth to a child and watching it grow.”
Emanny launched his Songs About HER series in 2012. The project included his Joe Budden-assisted confessional “I Messed Up” and the Jadakiss-featured “Young and Ready.” In the following year, Emanny released Songs About YOU before following up in 2014 with Songs About HER 2.
