Jon B. has released his new single “Natural Drug.”
On the self-written and self-produced track, the R&B veteran sings about being hooked to his woman’s love like a narcotic.
“Every time I always get reminded / When I pull to you close from behind it’s / Like we on a natural drug / ‘Cause you dealing with the real thing,” Jon B. sings over a hazy, trancelike production.
Speaking on “Natural Drug,” Jon B. explains, “There is no aphrodisiac like the natural drug a woman is. Through her love, inspiration naturally flows to me. She is why I dig so deep in my creativity, searching for the gems that reflect her brilliance.”
“Natural Drug” is the second offering Jon B.’s forthcoming EP, Waiting On You. In November 2023, he released the Tank-assisted title track.
“‘Waiting on You’ describes the feeling of anticipating love in your life, the seasons of waiting,” Jon B. said. “No matter the timing, even when it seems like it’s taking forever, you have to be patient for your partner in life. Not giving up makes it all worth the wait.”
Jon B.’s Waiting On You EP will mark his first project since his 2012 album Comfortable Swag. The EP will include additional collaborations with Donell Jones, Alex Isley, and Rick Ross.
According to previous press materials, Waiting On You is “a continuation of his artistic expression and musicianship that has captivated the hearts of R&B enthusiasts since his debut album, Bonafide.”
Speaking of Bonafide, Jon B.’s first album will celebrate its 30th anniversary in May 2025.
The album included the Grammy-nominated hit “Someone to Love” featuring Babyface.
Written and produced by Babyface, “Someone to Love” peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was nominated for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals at the 38th Grammy Awards.
In other news, Jon B. has upcoming shows at Blue Note Napa in Napa, California, where he will perform three nights from Nov. 29 through Dec. 1.
He also has shows lined up in 2025, including in Honolulu, Charlotte, Atlanta, Los Angeles and more. Tour dates are available at jonbworld.com.
