As Nao prepares to release her Jupiter album in 2025, the English singer has released another track, “Elevate.”
On the Stint-produced track, Nao sings about the heart-soaring sensation of being in love. “I’m not one for being selfish / I know that I can’t help it / It’s like cocaine in your kiss / The way that I can’t go a day without it / I’m off the ground when it hits / Hope we stay floating like this,” she sings.
Speaking on her new track, Nao told Clash, “‘Elevate’ captures the intoxicating feeling of love. It describes a relationship so powerful it feels addictive, yet freeing, like floating without fear of falling. I wanted it to sound euphoric, which is why we have this soaring, Prince-like guitar solo, beautifully played by my guitarist, Andy Vickery.”
“Elevate” follows the DetoNate-produced “Wildflowers,” which was released Oct. 11. “A wildflower symbolizes falling in love—it’s wild, carefree, and you want it to last forever. But life and time have other plans,” said Nao. “‘Wildflowers’ invites listeners to explore the highs and lows of love while embracing vulnerability.”
“Elevate” and “Wildflowers” will appear on Nao’s fourth album, Jupiter, which is set to release in February 2025, according to VIBE.
Jupiter will follow Nao’s 2021 album, And Then Life Was Beautiful. The latter project featured Lucky Daye, Lianne La Havas, serpentwithfeet, and Adekunle Gold.
According to press materials, Jupiter “will explore themes of growth, abundance, and profound self-discovery, weaving together a tapestry of introspection and expansive creativity.”
Since releasing And Then Life Was Beautiful, Nao has collaborated with Stormzy (“Bad Blood”), J Warner (“Broken Promises”) Shae Universe (“Oh, Wait…”) and Gallant (“Centigrade.“), among others.
