Nao is back. The R&B songbird has released her new song “Wildflowers” via Sony Music UK/RCA Records.
Produced by DetoNate, “Wildflowers” hears Nao welcoming love — and all its with open arms. “Catch me and I’ll catch you back / We’ll keep falling ’til the end of time,” she coos over a breezy soundscape.
Regarding the inspiration behind her new song, Nao explains, “A Wildflower symbolizes falling in love—it’s wild, carefree, and you want it to last forever. But life and time have other plans. ‘Wildflowers’ invites listeners to explore the highs and lows of love while embracing vulnerability.”
“Wildflowers,” which was recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London, is the lead single from Nao’s fourth album, Jupiter.
According to press materials, the album “will explore themes of growth, abundance, and profound self-discovery, weaving together a tapestry of introspection and expansive creativity.”
Jupiter, which will release in 2025, will follow Nao’s third 2021 album, And Then Life Was Beautiful. The project was highlighted on Rated R&B’s Best R&B Albums of 2021 list.
“As life provides us with an array of lessons to learn, And Then Life Was Beautiful reminds us that doing the self-work is well worth the reward. Nao acknowledges that after unpleasant moments and situations settle, the beauty of life awaits us on the other side,” wrote Danielle Brissett.
And Then Life Was Beautiful included features from Adekunle Gold (“Antidote“), Lucky Daye (“Good Luck”), and serpentwithfeet (“Postcards”).
Since her last album, Nao has collaborated with several artists, including Stormzy (“Bad Blood”), Skillibeng (“Balance”), J Warner (“Broken Promises”) Shae Universe (“Oh, Wait…”) and Gallant (“Centigrade.“), among others.
In November, Nao will embark on a mini tour in the U.S. and Europe. The intimate and stripped-back tour begins Nov. 13 in Los Angeles at Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Ferver. From there, she will perform in New York and London before wrapping up at Bitterzoet Chapel in Amsterdam.
