Rising R&B sensation kwn has released her new single “Do What I Say.”
The self-produced track is driven by a skittering beat that allows the East London native to show off her playful yet dominant energy.
“Paint your nails / Paint your nails the way I like ’em / I might paint mine too / ‘Cause I know a place I can hide ’em / And it’s inside you,” she sings.
Regarding her sultry tune, kwn shares, “I made ‘Do What I Say’ once again in my bedroom. I wasn’t feeling very creative at the time and was just trying to see what clicked. When I made the song, it was like half the speed, but I sped it up and realized it was way better. Lyrically, it’s really just me having fun with my pen and seeing how cheeky I could get.”
“Do What I Say” follows kwn’s pleasure-seeking collaboration with Kehlani, “Worst Behaviour,” which is a remix of her 2024 track.
Speaking on her “Worst Behaviour (Remix),” kwn noted, “What’s mad about all of this is, we didn’t even plan a remix like that. Kehlani was the one who said, ‘We should do a remix’ and I said, ‘Ok do you wanna be on it’…and that’s how it happened.”
As indicated above, kwn released the original version of “Worst Behaviour” in November 2024. The song, which she co-wrote with her close collaborator Sasha Keable, has garnered over nine million Spotify streams, while the remix has over 16 million streams on the same platform.
Before that, kwn joined Kehlani on “Clothes Off” from their project While We Wait 2, a sequel to their 2019 mixtape.
