Eric Benét will release his new album, The Co-Star, on June 6 via JBR Creative Group.
The 13-track duets project includes the No. 1 hit “Something We Can Make Love To” with Tamar Braxton, which topped Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, plus the other singles “So Distracted” with Chanté Moore, “Can’t Wait” with Keri Hilson and “Fly Away” with Corinne Bailey Rae.
The official music video for “Fly Away” is out today (May 15) and features the two singers performing in a serene Malibu setting.
The Co-Star also includes collaborations with other women in music, such as Ari Lennox, Alex Isley, Melanie Fiona and India.Arie, to name a few.
The Co-Star expands on Benét’s Duets EP, which he dropped in 2024. The latter project included “Something We Can Make Love To,” “So Distracted,” and “Fly Away,” as well as songs with Ledisi (“Right Time”) and LaTocha (“Work It Out”).
Regarding Duets, Benét told Rated R&B, “If I look back on my entire career, I think my duets were some of the most powerful songs. For the past 10 years, it’s always been in the back of my mind, like, ‘Yo, one of these days, I need to do a whole album where it’s all duets.’ This seems the perfect opportunity because I haven’t had a project out in like eight years.”
Benét officially announced The Co-Star with his Hilson-featured “Can’t Wait,” which is the official first single from the project. “It has always been a dream of mine to release music with Keri,” Benét said.
Benét added, “She’s an undeniably powerful songwriter, a phenomenal singer, and just a beautiful person inside and out. Being able to bring the vision of ‘Can’t Wait’ to life has been an incredible experience, and I am beyond excited to finally share this song with our fans!”
The Co-Star is the follow-up to Benét’s self-titled album, which was released in 2016. The project included the single “Sunshine,” which peaked at No. 2 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart.
