R&B sensation Mariah The Scientist has returned with her new single “Burning Blue,” her first release in nearly two years.

On the smoldering track, produced by Nineteen85 and Jetski Purp, Mariah sings of a lover who ignites her heart — and world — with his glowing presence.

She sings in the chorus: “I can feel it in the air / My cold sweat dripping everywhere / I’m all wet I don’t even care as long as you’re / Right here laying in my bed / I’ll forget what everyone said / I’m all in.”

“Burning Blue” is the first offering from Mariah The Scientist’s upcoming fourth album, which will release via Epic Records.

“[My] new project, that has taken many nights to put together, but it’s done,” Mariah teased at Billboard’s Women in Music event in March. “So, I’m excited to put it out.”

The singer-songwriter’s forthcoming project will follow 2023’s To Be Eaten Alive, her first release under Epic Records. The album included appearances from 21 Savage, Young Thug and Vory.

To Be Eaten Alive was preceded by the singles “Bout Mine” and “From A Woman.”

Regarding the album’s title, she explained, “Scorpions, like myself, are considered non-social and solitary animals. Interacting only on rare occasion, such as courtship. For the grand and notable lion, the scorpion seems to be a small feat. They are an unpredictable match and yet they establish a mutual respect for each other’s curious differences.”

Mariah The Scientist supported the album on her headlining To Be Eaten Alive Tour.

Since her To Be Eaten Alive era, Mariah has collaborated with several rappers, including 21 Savage (“Dark Days“), Latto (“Look What You Did“), Tee Grizzley (“Situationship“), A Boogie Wit da Hoodie (“P&E“) and Hunxho (“New R.R.“).
