After much anticipation, Mariah Carey has unveiled the official music video for her new single “Type Dangerous.”
The Joseph Kahn-directed video, divided into seven acts, follows Carey as she elegantly defeating Mr. Player, Mr. Dancer, Mr. Traitor, Mr. Racer, and Mr. Dealer, before eliminating Mr. Beast with four magical words: “I don’t know him,” a nod to her iconic “I don’t know her” line from a 2003 interview.
Carey’s “Type Dangerous” video was originally scheduled to premiere last Friday (June 13), but was slightly delayed until Saturday (June 14) due to editing. “This was a beast of an edit but it’s going out the door now,” Kahn wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Khan also teased that there would be an “earth shattering surprise” in the video, which ended up being a cameo from the popular YouTuber, Mr. Beast, who has over 405 million subscribers.

“Type Dangerous” is the first offering from Carey’s upcoming 16th album. Carey performed the track live for the first time at the 2025 BET Awards, where she was honored with the Ultimate Icon Award. Her collaborator Anderson .Paak, who co-wrote the song with her, played on the drums.
Rap legend Rakim made a surprise appearance during the performance to spit fiery bars over production that samples his 1987 classic with Eric B., “Eric B. Is President.”
“I’m so excited to finally be releasing ‘Type Dangerous’ into the world,” Carey shared. “I’ve been locked up in the studio for quite some time working my behind off on new music, and I’m thrilled for the unveiling of it to my fans, starting with ‘Type Dangerous’!”
Carey’s forthcoming album will follow 2018’s Caution, released via Epic Records. The latter project included the singles “GTFO,” “A No No” and “The Distance” featuring Ty Dolla $ign. It featured additional collaborations with Gunna, Slick Rick and Blood Orange.
Caution debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Top R&B Albums chart.
