Sabrina Claudio embraces being a work in progress. Each project she releases serves as a self-assessment of where she is and where she wants to go. “I’m just an outline of what I used to be / Constantly evolving / Steadily revolving,” she sang on “Confidently Lost,” the title track to her debut EP (2017).
Fast forward to the present day, Claudio’s fifth album, Fall In Love With Her, released June 6 via EMPIRE, delves deeper into her soul-searching journey.
Opening with the introspective title track, featuring Tanerélle, Claudio pens a rose-scented love letter to her former self. “Finally found me / On the outskirts of you,” she coos over soft guitar strums.
Across the remaining atmospheric tracks, Claudio floats a romantic landscape where she longs for a partner’s embrace (“Need U To Need Me“), vows to love out loud (“Before It’s Too Late“) and without hesitation (“Sail”). “You’re the wind that decided to push through / My sail’s up, just guide me,” she sings in the latter track.
The tides of love grow more tumultuous as the album unfolds. “Mi Luz” is a breathtaking ballad, performed entirely in Spanish, with hints of reggaeton baked into the production. Here, the Puerto Rican/Cuban singer warns her partner not to dim her light if he’s unprepared to deal with the darkness he brought forth: “No me apagues mi luz / Si no quieres ver mi oscuridad.”
On “Detoxing,” Claudio undergoes an emotional purge of the debris left by heartbreak. But, as she sings in “Memory Foam,” her heart will eventually return to true form. “You can cut it to pieces, but it keeps growing back,” she assures on the closing track.
“Fall In Love With Her is a reflection of growth—a journey through longing, healing, and finding alignment,” explains Claudio. “It’s about letting go of who I once was to become who I’m meant to be, and trusting that in the end, I’ll meet her again. She’ll be everything I’ve worked for. And I will fall in love with her.”
Fall In Love With Her follows Claudio’s Archives & Lullabies (2023), a compilation of unreleased tracks and acoustic versions of songs from 2022’s Based On A Feeling.
In July, Claudio will join Russ and Big Sean on the Into The Wild Tour. She will perform in Toronto, Charlotte, Tampa, Atlanta, Las Vegas and more before wrapping up Aug. 10 in Auburn, Washington.
Before she hits the road, the Floridian will perform on The Today Show on Friday (June 13).
