Jacquees has a knack for flipping classic and current R&B songs.
His new single “He Kant” time-travels back to the 2000s with a nostalgic interpolation of Jagged Edge‘s “He Can’t Love U,” while tipping his hat to Atlanta rap group D4L’s “Betcha Can’t Do It Like Me.”
Produced by Polow Da Don, “He Kant” combines the smooth balladry of the original with a thumping bass and crisp snaps. Lyrically, Jacquees stays on theme with the R&B group’s hit, professing why he’s the one for a special woman.
“Ain’t too many of us left / Shawty, you can put that hurt on the shelf / Yeah, your last man ain’t listen / With me, you ain’t gotta repeat yourself,” he sings.

“He Kant” is Jacquees’ first single since releasing F**k A Friendzone 2, the sequel to his joint mixtape with rapper DeJ Loaf, in February.
The two supported their new project on their co-headlining F#*k a Friendzone Tour.
Before that, in November 2024, he released his fourth album, Baby Making, via Cash Money Records. He told Rated R&B he was inspired to record the album after becoming a father.
“I turned into a new daddy and that’s what the music reflects,” Jacquees said to Rated R&B. “I was always making music about sex, but then I would make love songs. It wasn’t together. Now, I got it where it’s together. This album is about making love and creating babies.”
