Grammy-winning star Fantasia has teamed up with South Carolina artist 803Fresh for a remix of his viral hit “Boots on the Ground.”
The North Carolinian struts into the opening verse, singing of a night on the town with her homegirls and Beyoncé’s Sir Davis whiskey in hand.
“I’m hanging out till the moon peak like my cheeks hang outta them dukes / When that Sir Davis flowing, I be kicking up dust / Can’t forget about the folding chair / Pop the trunk and grab my Stanley cup,” Fantasia sings.
Speaking on his collaboration with Fantasia, 803Fresh shares, “This remix is Carolina Soul at its strongest. Fantasia brought a whole new level of energy, passion, and fire to the track. It’s an anthem for the people, and I couldn’t think of anyone better to help me take it there.”
Fantasia adds, “The moment I heard ‘Boots on the Ground,’ I knew it was special. Performing it with 803 felt like a full-circle moment—two Carolina voices representing where we’re from and taking it to the world.”
The original version of “Boots on the Ground,” produced by T Da Wizard, was released Dec. 20, 2024, via Snake Eyez/KG Music Group. The country-soul track, which spawned a viral line dance, reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay and R&B Digital Song Sales charts.
Since its release, 803Fresh, born Douglas Furtick, has released a few versions of his regional-turned-global hit, including “Boots on the Ground (Instructional Version),” “Boots on the Ground (BL Official Mix),” and “Boots on the Ground (Poppinz Mix).”
Even the Queen Bey herself, Beyoncé, had her boots on the ground during the Cowboy Carter Tour, where she incorporated the catchy bop in her performance of “Heated” from Renaissance.
As for Fantasia, the singer has been on the road with fellow North Carolina native Anthony Hamilton, with joint tour dates through 2026.
In April, the American Idol winner released her single “Have Your Way” reportedly from her long-anticipated gospel album.
