Isaiah Falls knows his fans can’t go too long without new material.
“My fans yell at me all the time for not dropping music,” he told Rated R&B in an interview earlier this year about LVRS Paradise (Side A), the first installment of his two-part debut album. While Falls works on its follow-up, the Florida singer has released Lucky You, a six-track EP, to tide his devotees over.
For 15 minutes, listeners can get lost in the dimly-lit soundscape Falls curated with his Luxury Lane collective. Opening with the SiR-assisted “Brown Sugah,” a previously shared track, Falls sets the EP’s mood with a slow, sweet burn that celebrates Black and brown women with unrefined fervor.
Although the majority of the project’s tracks were released ahead of time, including the Joyce Wrice-featured “Butterflies,” which has over 28 million Spotify streams — along with its B-side “Have My Babies?” — and “Just a Dream” with Alex Isley, Lucky You still cruises with intent like a romantic late-night drive.
On “God Is Real,” a beautiful ballad, Falls’ falsetto voice floats over acoustic guitar met by warm piano, where he sings of an ardor that’s deeply divine: “I know God is real (so real) / By the way you make me feel.”
As Falls heads to the next stop — LVRS Paradise (Side B) — he gives fans a taste of the direction of his upcoming project. “Side B is a lot more grown and a lot more sexy,” Falls exclusively told Rated R&B. “I would compare it to a glass of red wine, if I’m being honest. It is very playa, very smooth and very South.”
Regarding Lucky You, Falls noted, “I wanted to give you all some new music to hold you over until the team and I can finish side B (which is otw), but until then this is for yall!”
Lvrs Paradise (Side A) was released May 2 via Lvrs Only/Roc Nation Distribution. The project, which also includes “Butterflies,” features additional collaborations with Odeal (“Searching“) and Ambré (“Desires”).
