After penning hits for pop and R&B stars, MarcLo reintroduces himself with his new single “Muni (I Used to Love You).”
The warm, lush production recalls the early 2000s neo-soul era, as MarcLo dives into the complexities of our relationship with the dollar. The song plays like a love ballad turned toxic, but instead, it shows how our reliance on it can sometimes lead to our undoing.
“On first listen, ‘Muni (I Used to Love You)’ sounds like it’s about a relationship between two lovers, but when you really pay attention, it’s actually about how the love of money can be the root of all evil. Still, as much as that might be true, we all need money to survive and live comfortably — and that’s the conversation happening in this song,” MarcLo explains.
“Muni” is the lead single from MarcLo’s forthcoming album, 11 Days. “I chose this record out of the 11 tracks on the album to be this lead single because it showcases my musicality and lyrical depth,” MarcLo exclusively tells Rated R&B. “It’s a very personal subject matter that is universally relatable and is the perfect entry point into the world of the album.”
