Miguel taps fellow Los Angeles native Kendrick Lamar for the official remix of his song “How Many Drinks?” The two emerging artists seem to be building a great friendship. They recently covered VIBE’s “Big List” issue together and did an interview.
Miguel explained that his and Lamar’s collaboration “sound like a breath of fresh air.” Miguel also spoke highly of Lamar. “Kendrick is poised to be the next staple in hip-hop [and] I certainly intend on becoming that for R&B,” Miguel told VIBE. “I don’t get that vibe that he’s putting on… I just feel like he’s just being honest in his music. Newer, younger artists, that’s what we’re all striving to do. Just be ourselves. Kendrick is one of the best examples of that.”
