After becoming the first African-American woman to be crowned Miss America, Vanessa Williams traded in her sash for a successful music career . This week’s Throwback Thursday celebrates her signature ballad, “Save The Best For Last.” The 1992 hit tells a romantic tale of Williams almost giving up on love to finally get the man of her dreams, even if he saved the best for last.
The song became Williams’ biggest hit to date, as it topped Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and the Billboard Hot 100. It also earned the singer two Grammy nominations for both Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
