Ciara is keeping the C-Squad, her devoted fans, on their toes as they anticipate her eighth album. The Grammy-winning singer teased a new song, “Da Girls,” in a post on social media.
The 50-second clip shows Ciara, rocking a Michael Jackson “Thriller” t-shirt and MSCHF’s Big Red Boot, slowly dancing to the motivational track while looking in the mirror.
“This is for da girls gettin’ money / This is for da girls that don’t need no man / This is for da girls in love with theyself / This is all for da girls that don’ did it for theyself / This is for da girls that’s i-n-d-e-p-e-n-d-e-n-t / This is for all da girls that be livin’ stress-free / This is for all the girls on a mission like me,” Ciara sings in the chorus.
Ciara has not revealed her plans to release “Da Girls” at the time of publication.
Ciara launched her eighth album era last summer with her party-friendly bop “Jump” featuring Coast Cantra. It peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart during the week of July 23, 2022.
Later that fall, Ciara released her optimistic tune “Better Thangs” with Summer Walker. Ciara described “Better Thangs” as a ” feel-good anthem for elevating every aspect of your life.” She added, “It’s meant to bring joy while inspiring the continuous evolution of one’s self.”
In November, Ciara released her “Better Thangs (Remix)” featuring rapper GloRilla.
Ciara’s upcoming album will mark her first release on Uptown Records and Republic Records, in partnership with her imprint Beauty Marks Entertainment.
“I am thrilled to partner with Uptown/Republic Records through my own label imprint Beauty Marks Entertainment,” Ciara said. “Wendy [Goldstein] and I have been in discussion to work together for some time and the enthusiasm that her and the entire team have expressed over this new project marks an exciting new chapter in my career. I am grateful to be able to continue my mission of making the world dance with a team I admire, who are at the forefront of empowering artists.”
Ciara’s forthcoming album will follow 2019’s Beauty Marks, which she released independently. The album included the platinum-selling hit “Level Up,” which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart and No. 3 on the R&B Streaming Songs chart.
Beauty Marks included guest appearances from Kelly Rowland, Tekno and Macklemore.
