Ambré has achieved her first No. 1 single. Her track “I’m Baby” featuring Jvck James tops Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart this week and holds the No. 1 position on R&B radio.
Ambré’s achievement is particularly notable as she is the first artist to reach the Adult R&B Airplay summit with a debut appearance since Thundercat, when he reigned alongside Silk Sonic and Bootsy Collins with “After Last Night” in November 2022.
With Ambré’s ascension to the Adult R&B Airplay peak with “I’m Baby,” she becomes the first woman to own the top spot with their first entry since Tems, who appeared on Wizkid’s “Essence” in 2021.
Additionally, Billboard reports that Ambré is the first woman to claim a No. 1 on this chart with a debut release since Snoh Aalegra with “I Want You Around” in 2020.
“I’m Baby” also gives James his first leader across the R&B charts.
The Louie Lastic-produced track debuted at No. 27 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart the week ending on Oct. 8, 2022. It entered the top 10 in the March 4 issue while doing so on R&B radio the same week.
Ambré co-wrote “I’m Baby” with James, Destin Conrad, and Jada Watkiss-Conteh. The song is among Ambré’s trending songs on Spotify, surpassing the 7.3 million mark in streams at the time of publication.
Additionally, the official video has amassed over 1.1 million views on YouTube. Child directed the visual.
“To me, the video is an art piece that I will allow the viewer to interpret,” said Ambré. “Hopefully, it makes someone feel even more beautiful, sexy, and capable of being vulnerable with that someone they trust.”
“I’m Baby” appears on Ambré’s most recent project, 3000°, which arrived last June via Roc Nation.
Regarding the EP, Ambré said, “This body of work means so much to me because it reflects how I view myself, where I come from, and my loved ones…This is a love story set in the most magical city. New Orleans made me who I am; make no mistake about it. Hopefully, my fans and new listeners will also feel the heart of it and become immersed in the world I have created in this EP.”
