R&B veteran and actor Marques Houston has released a visual for his latest single “Admit It.”
In the video, Houston shows off his slick dance moves to the Afrobeats-tinged track.
Speaking on the video, Houston tells Rated R&B, “I’ve been enjoying the fusion of sounds and culture lately. I’ve been in the mix with the whole Afrobeats world and the feel really resonated with me how R&B makes people feel. It’s becoming really popular, too, so I felt the timing was great. So, as my comeback single, I wanted to mesh the two sounds.”
He adds, “Movement and high-energy dancing I felt visually was important to me, with a bright and colorful look also. I’m big on performance music videos, that way when I hit the road this year my setlist will be packed with a lot dancing.”
“Admit It” is the first taste from Houston’s upcoming album, which has no release date yet.
The supporting visual for “Admit It” recently reached No. 1 on the iTunes R&B/Soul Music Videos chart. At the time of publication, it’s No. 2, behind Kool & The Gang’s “Celebration.”
Houston’s upcoming project will follow his 2022 EP, ME: Dark Water, which featured Ray J and Monteco.
“I know a lot of people want that nostalgic R&B feel, which the EP still has, but I wanted to step out of my comfort zone,” Houston told Rated R&B. “It was really fun recording this project. ME: Dark Water is more of an edgier side.”
In early 2022, Houston released his full-length album, ME, his first body of work since 2013’s Famous.
