Temperatures may be dropping as fall transitions into winter, but Phabo’s new song “5000 Degrees” has enough heat to fend off the chill.
Speaking on the blazing track, Phabo exclusively tells Rated R&B, “‘5000 degrees’ paints a picture of both angst and anticipation while out partying with your love interest. No matter where you are in the hemisphere, things have the propensity to get hot and heavy when your muse is setting the tone.”
He sings, “I just might need something to look forward to / You just need someone catering to you.”
“5000 Degrees,” which features Josef Lamercier, follows the previously shared tracks “Kissing In Da Club” and “Fur Coat.” Phabo says his latest track is another vignette from an overarching story he’s telling.
“Piggybacking off of both ‘Kissing In Da Club’ and ‘Fur Coat,’ ‘5000 Degrees’ serves as a climatic piece that adds structure to the world I’m building. The tension is finally peaking, but as the saying goes, ‘If you can’t stand the heat, get out the kitchen,” he shares.
Phabo launched his new era over the summer with “Kissing In Da Club.” Regarding the Markus Randle and Trey Lander-produced track, he shared, “‘Kissing In Da Club’ is the overall embodiment of returning back home after a long tour. As a touring artist, more often than not, the act of reconnecting with your loved one can be so important during that time.”
He added, “It has the propensity to supersede the need for privacy. A crowded space can easily become grounds for PDA, or a dark club corner may grant you a brief moment of intimacy. I just wanted to create a record that resonates with that angst and those connections.”
As for the hypnotic “Fur Coat,” Phabo noted, “I wanted to create something that would allow women the space to feel confident in whatever they choose to style themselves in, and that their efforts never go unnoticed.”
In 2023, Phabo released his sophomore album, Don’t Get Too Cozy. The 18-track project featured Ambré, Shae Universe, and Kalan.FrFr.
