Emerging alt-R&B singer Chase Shakur continues his heat streak with his new single “2ofUs.”
On the hip-hop soul track, produced by Dahi, Daniel Barrett, and Roos, Shakur sings about the early stages of brewing love.
“Can’t let your heart slip up and fumble / ‘Cause you said you’re still in love / Say my love takes you for rides / Just hoping you’re still here / Guess that makes two of us,” Shakur sings.
Speaking on his new track, Shakur exclusively tells Rated R&B, “‘2ofUs’ follows the feeling after being in that state of limerence. It represents a raw, intimate moment between two people navigating love and its complexities.”
He continues, “It’s a snapshot of those vulnerable feelings when you’re both in your own worlds but still find that connection.” The song reflects my journey in exploring what it means to trust someone, to love, and to experience all the highs and lows that come with it.”
“2ofUs” follows “Limerence” and “Passenger Seat Princess” featuring Destin Laurel. All three tracks will appear on his forthcoming debut album, Wonderlove, which is expected to arrive in 2025 via Def Jam Recordings.
“My debut album, Wonderlove, is the best work me and my team have done so far, and ‘Limerence’ is a part of that work,” Shakur told Rated R&B. “I really wanted to release it as a single because it’s different than my other work. It has a different feel, a different vibe, and I’m excited for fans to enter the world of Wonderlove.”
Earlier this year, Shakur released The Stunt-Man Pack, which included two tracks: “Yolanda” and “Options.”
Shakur’s approaching debut album will follow his 2023 EP, it’s not you, it’s me, which was reissued with a deluxe edition, it’s not you, it’s me…it’s love.
In other news, the Atlanta-born singer recently collaborated with fellow alt-R&B singer Col3trane on “Crocodile Tears.”
