JoJo has announced her new project, NGL, short for ‘not gonna lie,’ will release Jan. 25, 2025, via BMG.

The EP will include the lead single, “Porcelain,” and the latest track, “Too Much To Say.”

On the latter tune, co-produced by Leon Thomas and Khris Riddick-Tynes, JoJo tries to unpack a mix of thoughts and feelings that have been weighing heavily on her.

“Where the f—k do my emotions go when I start feeling emotional? / Am I numb? / Lately, I’ve been asking questions, been needing to feel something spiritual / Is that dumb? / Too young to be tied down /  I just need me right now / And I’m selfish with my time now / Is it okay if I cry now?” JoJo sings.

Circling back to NGL, JoJo launched her new era with “Porcelain,” which samples Unkle Luke’s “I Wanna Rock.”

Regarding the triumphant track, JoJo told People, “As much as it’s a sample-heavy track — shout out to Uncle Luke for clearing it for ya girl — we actually wrote the whole song to live instruments. It started as a jam in the live room. Then, we decided to infuse it with my euphoria, catharsis and energy.”

NGL consists of eight tracks, including “Porcelain Reminaged,” a stripped-down piano rendition of the bouncy bop. JoJo’s forthcoming EP is the follow-up to 2021’s trying not to think about it. The latter EP included songs such as “Worst (I Assume)” and “Dissolve.”

JoJo will support NGL on her Too Much To Say Tour, which kicks off Feb. 22, 2025, in Nashville.

On Sept. 17, JoJo, born Joanna Levesque, released her first book, Over the Influence: A Memoir, via Hachette Books. The memoir was featured on the New York Times Best Seller list.

“This book is for anyone who has ever felt disillusioned, disconnected, but underneath it all determined to find themselves and a new way of being,” said JoJo.

She added, “This is a story of addiction, generational trauma, fame on a developing brain, lies, love, stamina, spirituality, resilience, and reinventions. It’s insight into the evolving music industry over the part of the past two decades and a cautionary tale that I want to be the one to tell.”
