Grammy-nominated singer Ro James has released his new single “On Me,” produced by Joe Craze and Casa Maya.

On the heartfelt track, which he co-wrote with Andrew Diaz, James laments over a fleeting love: “Look me in my eyes when you say cheese / That’s how I want you in my memory / Keep your fingers looking like your toes / Let me pick the shade / I need that ’cause you know how it goes / Tell that to your friends / Since there’s all this weight I gotta hold / I’m just holding on until I fold.”

Speaking on his new song, James wrote on Instagram, “Gratitude!!! A Rebirth! I did this one with My brothers @sircassmaya @andrewaandydiaz & @joecraze. It’s our first one together and I’m so proud of the actual Body of work.”

He added, “It’s honest and was created with blood sweat and tears. In a time when I was questioning everyone and everything. lol I’d bet on US everytime.”

“On Me” is the follow-up to James’ 2024 track “Platonic,” his first song release in four years. Speaking on the latter track, James shared, “Created this [with] my bro/producer Brady Watt. Wanted to explore the concept of connection without having to be physical and highlighting the beauty of platonic friendships.”

“Platonic” and “On Me” are expected to appear on James’ forthcoming project, which will be released independently.

James’ released in sophomore album, MANTIC, in 2020. The LP, released via ByStorm Entertainment/RCA Records, included singles such as “Excuse Me,” “Touchy Feely,” “Last Time” and “Too Much” featuring Miguel. It featured additional collaborations with Brandy (“Plan B“) and Masego (“Slow Down”).

Earlier this spring, James joined Tamar Braxton and October London on their October Nights: Calling All Lovers Tour. The 24-city U.S. tour wrapped up May 31 in Oakland.
