Actor and singer Miles Caton, known for his breakout role in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, has unveiled his debut single, “Somethin.”
On the pleading ballad, co-written by Caton and Liana Banks, the 20-year-old lets his heart bleed as he fights to resurrect a relationship that’s fallen into the abyss.
“I been wondering could we do this again,” he croons. Even though Caton desires to rekindle a lost flame, he acknowledges, “If it’s too late to revisit the past / I fall back.”
Caton’s vocal performance on “Somethin” easily places him high on a list of R&B artists to watch. It’s clear that he’s carving out his own lane to become a multigenerational talent.

Caton first teased “Somethin” on July 18 in an Instagram video post of footage of him in a recording studio. “Cant Wait! #comingsoon #somethin,” he wrote.
Speaking on collaborating with Caton, Banks wrote on Instagram, “This is one of my favorite songs I’ve been a part of creating in a while. [Miles Caton], your talent, class, execution & wisdom are far beyond your years,” she said. “It was such a pleasure to help you piece this together & even more of a pleasure to do it in NYC with some of my favorite humans.”
“Somethin” arrives three months after Caton’s starring role — and his first-ever acting gig — in Sinners hit theaters. In the Coogler-directed film, Caton plays Sammie Moore a.k.a. Preacher Boy, opposite Michael B. Jordan’s dual role as Smoke and Stack.
Per the logline, “Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers (Jordan) return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.”
“This film has something for everybody,” Caton said to Schön Magazine. “It’s a fun experience, but I think it highlights the important themes of culture, community, and music.”
Regarding how he connected with his character, he told the publication, “I’d say the overall ambition. Just the drive to really be great and do what you love to do and navigating the best way to go about it.”
Caton appears on several songs on Sinners (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), including the bluesy standout “I Lied to You.” The Oscar-worthy track was produced by Ludwig Göransson and written by Raphael Saadiq.

The Sinners soundtrack debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Blues Albums chart, where it spent 12 consecutive weeks at the top.
Leading up to the release of “Somethin,” Caton dropped acoustic covers of SZA’s “Snooze” and Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather.”
Before that, he joined Luke James and Lucky Daye onstage at the 2025 BET Awards to perform “The Secret Garden” for the Quincy Jones tribute.
Prior to making his acting debut in Sinners, Caton toured as a background vocalist for Grammy-winning singer H.E.R. In fact, it was H.E.R. who encouraged him to pursue the role. “H.E.R. actually told me about the audition, and I sent a tape in for the part, and then I got a call back,” Caton told Billboard Philippines. “It was my first acting audition ever.”
