Singer and reality star Candiace has joined forces with Tamar Braxton for her “If Only…(Remix).”
Braxton appears midway in the confrontational track, where she shares her stance on an unfaithful lover. “But I should’ve known better / Been knew had to let him go / I’ve been sittin’ here trippin / Thinkin’ about what I’m gonna do to him,” Braxton sings.
Speaking on her remix, Candiace exclusively tells Rated R&B, “When I decided to do a remix to ‘If Only,’ I wanted it to feel like a conversation…different perspectives, different emotions, all meeting in the same space. Tamar has always supported me; she even brought me out on her Love & War Anniversary Tour, so reaching out felt natural, but I still didn’t know if she’d say yes. When I heard what she wrote and how she delivered it, I immediately loved it. She brought a depth and honesty to the record that elevated the entire story.”
“If Only…,” produced by Triangle Park and Yonatan Watts, interpolates Patti LaBelle‘s “If Only You Knew.” The velvety track was released Feb. 4 via UnitedMasters.
“Lyrically, this song really tells the story of where I’ve been in love and relationships, the lessons, the heartbreak, and the growth,” Candiace told Rated R&B. “The Patti LaBelle interpolation was the perfect icing on the cake because it brings that timeless soul energy that I grew up loving.”
Candiace is gearing up to release her new EP sometime this year. “I actually recorded most of my upcoming EP while I was pregnant, so there’s a deeper level of vulnerability and reflection in this music,” she said.
In other news, Candiace hinted that another remix of “If Only…” is underway. She tells Rated R&B, “This is just the beginning. There’s another voice coming into the conversation soon.”
Candiace’s forthcoming project will follow her 2021 album, Deep Space.
As for Braxton, the Grammy-nominated singer released her Heartbreak Retrograde EP in 2025. The project, accompanied by a self-released movie, was preceded by the lead single “You On You.”
