Abel “The Weeknd” Tesafaye has released his anticipated visual piece titled, Mania.
The 12-minute clip picks up where Abel’s “Starboy” video left off. It opens with a black panther sitting on a geometric platform. It quickly cuts to Abel driving up a winding hill in California, while his Kendrick Lamar-assisted song “Sidewalks” plays in the background.
Abel sings, “I ran out of tears when I was 18 / So nobody made me but the main streets / ‘Cause too many people think they made me / Well if they really made me then replace me.”
He eventually arrives a nightclub where he is seduced by a woman dancer, played by French model Anais Mali. The two vibe with each other as Abel’s upbeat track “Secrets” plays.
The video takes a wild and bloody turn when Abel is in the bathroom washing his hands. Let’s just say, the panther has his back.
Mania features songs from The Weeknd’s upcoming album Starboy, which arrives on Friday.
