After a ten-year hiatus since her last album, Funk This, Chaka Khan announced her new album titled Hello Happiness would arrive this February. Now, just two weeks following the title track premiere, the Queen of Funk has unveiled the visual for the fun record.
Opting to make a minimal appearance in the throwback picture, Khan is joined by a slew of late-night dwellers who can’t stop making calls from a local payphone. By the looks of the twisted events happening outside the sleazy hotel and phone booth, you probably shouldn’t visit this side of town.
The album, Hello Happiness, is scheduled to arrive on February 15, via Diary Records/Island Records. The forthcoming LP has been described as, “An album which sets Chaka Khan’s timeless vocal to an empowering collection of songs with cutting-edge production.” Khan has leaned on producer Switch and singer/songwriter Sara Ruba Taylor for creative inspiration.
