Following her appearance at the inaugural Urban One Honors, Elle Varner visited the Power 99 studio in Philadelphia to perform an acoustic version of her latest single “Pour Me.”
Rocking a graphic t-shirt and blue skinny jeans, Varner sat comfortably on a stool with her guitar. Although her “Pour Me” co-star Wale wasn’t present, she thrilled the small audience with her raspy tone and her incredible skills on the strings.
Rated R&B covered the Urban One Honors in Washington, D.C., last December where we caught up with Varner about her new single. “It’s a double entendre about being a poor girl who’s lost the love she wants. So, pour her another,” she gushed over the new record. “It has that ’90s feel. It has these hard drums and chords that are just so tickling. It’s me on a thousand.”
Varner will perform at the 2019 Essence Festival in July.
