After making his debut in 2020 with his Therapy EP, singer-songwriter Otis Kane follows up with a fresh project titled Growing Pains.

The five-track EP opens at the end of a relationship and follows Kane on his journey to finding new love.

“This EP is a representation of growth for me; as a person, and as an artist,” Kane explained about the heartfelt project. “I know we all have our personal journeys, all very different, but hopefully, people can listen to mine and find similarities, solace, and love.”

Growing Pains includes the previously released songs “Fight For You,” “Lost” and “Without You.”

In an interview with Rated R&B, Kane shares the meaning behind each song on Growing Pains.

“Fight For You” is a real look at my relationship. In the song, I’m breaking down and analyzing the moments that aren’t perfect, but highlighting that; despite the imperfections, I still make the decision to fight for us. To me, that’s better than perfect, that’s proof that it’s meant to be.

“Lost” is a story about finding the love that you’ve been waiting for. It’s about that moment you realize, you’re better with that person, and lost without them.

“Without You” is pretty straight-forward. We have people that come into our lives, and we wonder how we ever lived without them. It’s a love song, but I believe it applies to friends as well.

“Someone Like You” is infatuation. The timeline in the song is a bit warped, because the feelings I was trying to get across were strong, as if I just met this person, but I know we’re meant to be. Almost like love at first sight, but at this point thing can go either way. Sometimes you feel strongly for someone and it fades soon after.

“Lay My Head Down” is about a rolling stone. In the song, I’m expressing the need to be close to someone, but the person I’m choosing to spend time with, for whatever reason, isn’t the right person. This is something that I know we all experience in search of something good and real.
