New Orleans R&B sensation August Alsina sat down with the hilarious Jack Thriller of This is 50, where he discussed his musical influences, growing up in the streets of New Orleans and family losses.
Alsina, rocking a gold bottom grill, named Jodeci as one of his musical influences, naming the hit “All My Life” from the R&B group members K-Ci & JoJo as one of his favorite songs.
He describes growing up in the rough streets of his hometown as “unexplainable.”
“Its something that you gotta live,” he said.
He went on to say that with his new EP, “Downtown: Life Under The Gun,” he wanted listeners to feel as though they were walking through the singer’s “hood” with him.
“Its an emotional trip,” he added. “Its a good trip though.”
August Alsina also speaks on his father’s drug addiction and tragic losses of family and friends to the rough streets of New Orleans.
