To our loyal readers of Chart Check, we do apologize for our absence with last week’s installment. However – we are back  with the latest chart-topping and chart-flopping positions of R&B acts on both the Billboard and radio charts.

In this installment of Chart Check, find out why no R&B albums were in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, which hip-hop artist knocked Robin Thicke from his 19-week reign on the Billboard R&B Songs and much more with your favorite R&B acts.

REPUBLIC RECORDS KISS LAND OFFICIAL COVER

Billboard 200

It seems like R&B fans are saving their money for holiday shopping as no R&B acts were in the top of the Billboard 200 album chart. The Weeknd’s album “Kiss Land” was the only LP in the top 10 last week but wasn’t able to maintain its position. It fell from No. 9 to No.21, selling 15,335 copies. The album now has sold 137,167 since its release three weeks ago.

Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” made a slight slip from No.12 to No.17, pushing 16,321 units. His chart-topping album has now moved over 500,000 units, earning the “Feel Good” crooner a gold-selling album.

Singer/reality-star Tamar Braxton saw a decline in sales as “Love and War”  fell from No.11 to No.26, selling 14,039 copies this week. Even with the decline and four weeks on the Billboard 200, her sophomore album has sold 182,893.

The trend of decline sales rubbed off on John Legend too as his latest project “Love in the Future” went from No.13 to No.33, selling 13,306 copies. Legend has sold 130,752 copies of the album since its release.

Other notable and un-notable album positions.

  • Ray Charles – “Ray Charles Forever” – Debuted No.34
  • Justin Timberlake – “The 20/20 Experience” – No.37
  • Janelle Monáe – “The Electric Lady” – No.47
  • TGT – “Three Kings” – No.57
  • Jaheim – “Appreciation Day” – No.59
  • K.Michelle – “Rebellious Soul” -No.84

Robin Thicke continues to dip down the chart with his summer hit “Blurred Lines.” Last week, the song was No.5 but has now fallen to No.7. Hi song “Give It 2 U” only moved one spot from No.36 to No.35. The song has peaked No.25.

“Love More” by Chris Brown featuring Nicki Minaj finds a new home as it moved from No.38 to No.31 this week.

August Alsina fights through the pop songs with “I Luv This Sh*t,” moving from No. 71 to No.66. With a new remix featuring Chris Brown and Trey Songz, we are sure it will help it move further.

Hold-On

Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs

With 16 weeks atop the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” made history as the longest running No.1 since Mary J.Blige’s 2005 hit “Be Without You,” which held the record at 15 weeks.

However, Thicke was unsuccessful with holding on another week as Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” notches his 11th No.1 song on this chart.

Chris Brown’s latest single “Love More” from his album “X” due Nov.19 continues to rise up the top 10. It moved from No.10 to No.9, while Robin Thicke’s “Give It 2 U” featuring Kendrick Lamar went from No.9 to No.11.

New Orleans native August Alsina finds his single “I Luv This Sh*T” rewinding on the chart from No.22 to No.25, while K.Michelle’s “V.S.O.P.” goes from No.31 to No.39.
