The year 2014 is already off to a good start. Legendary singer Jennifer Holliday returns with her first solo album in 23 years. The original Dreamgirl will release her new album, “The Song Is You,” on January 21 via Shanachie Entertainment/Euphonic Records.
“Jennifer Holliday is one of the greatest voices of our time; her many fans are hungry for new music from her,” says Shanachie General Manager Randall Grass. “This new album may be the most complete fulfillment of her artistry and vision as she recorded it free from any pressure to fit a commercial format.”
“The Song Is You,” executive produced by Daniel Moore and Holliday, includes covers by Holliday, previously unrecorded songs, and lesser-known compositions. The album will include classic songs like “At Last,” “The One You Used To Be,” “Are You Leaving Me,” and “Nobody Does It Better,” among others.
Unlike many of today’s albums, Holliday’s new album will feature all live instrumentals.
