R&B fashionista and foodie Kelis recently brought online luxury outlet The Coveteur to her yard (or her Los Angeles home).
The singer/songwriter/chef gave folks at The Coveteur a tour of her custom-built closet and served them a “FOOD” listening party complete with signature hors d’oeuvres from her forthcoming grocery store food line.
Kelis also chatted with them on various topics, including fashion, cooking inspiration, and her music.
On personal style:
“I did have my closet [custom] built. I would describe my style as emotional and themed. My first ever designer splurge was a pair of pink thigh-high Giuseppe Zanotti boots. I don’t ever want to part with any of my shoes. They all have a special place in my heart because they say something about who you are today.”
On cooking inspiration:
“I was watching a show and saw an ad for cooking school and thought to myself, ‘I can do that.’ Cooking starts with common sense. Try some!”
On “FOOD” and music inspiration:
‘Food’ is an album that I’ve always wanted to make, and working along Dave A. Sitek (producer) was a true joy. Life, love, and music are the inspirations behind my music.”
Guilty Pleasures:
“Watching Ratchet TV, love a flee market but don’t feel guilty about it, and Wetzel Pretzel.”
Kelis also left some advice: “Nurture your natural talents.”

Kelis is the host of her cooking show “Saucy and Sweet” on the Cooking Channel, which airs Wednesday nights at 8:30PM ET. Her sixth studio album “FOOD” drops April 22 and can be preordered on iTunes here.
