The theme for our March 2013 Throwback Thursday is “Unsung Female Voices of the 80’s.” We end this month’s theme with “Fool’s Paradise,” a soulful gem by Meli’sa Morgan.
The song, lifted off Morgan’s 1986 debut album “Do Me Baby,” received lukewarm success on the charts as it spent 12 weeks on the Billboard R&B Songs chart, peaking at No. 24.
Although “Fool’s Paradise” didn’t have much impact on the charts, it did impact one artist — Mary J. Blige. The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul sampled “Fool’s Paradise” on the chorus of Jay Z’s 1996 song “Can’t Knock My Hustle.”
Take a listen to Meli’sa Morgan’s song “Fool’s Paradise” below.
