As we announced last week, this month’s Throwback Thursday is “When They Were Younger.” This week we go back to 2002 when Mario released his debut single “Just A Friend” at age 16.
The Warryn Campbell production sampled Biz Markie’s hit single “Just A Friend” released in 1989. Mario’s version ended up being a huge success, charting higher than the original track. The single spent 21 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at No. 4. It also peaked at No 4 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart.
