After nearly three years after the release of her last album, New Life, Monica is prepping her next album.
While many were watching the 87th Annual Academy Awards last night (Feb. 22), Monica took to her social media for a #AskMo session. During conversations with fans, she revealed a couple of details about her forthcoming album tentatively titled Code Red.
Monica says the album’s lead single will have a “mid… club vibe” to it. However, the song’s lyrical content will focus on “distance.” Although fans would like a spring release for the album, Monica says it won’t be released until promotion is lined up correctly. She also reveals the first single will be out before May.
Over the past two years, Monica has been spotted in the studio working on her album with Missy Elliott, Jermaine Dupri and Polow Da Don. She has also released snippets to several songs including “Guns and Roses,” “Ocean of Tears” and “Never Be.”
Code Red will serve as the follow-up to 2012’s New Life, which spawned singles such as “Until It’s Gone,” “It All Belongs To Me” and “Anything (To Find You).”
