Solange Knowles Partners With IKEA

Cranes in the living room?

Solange Knowles branches out into the world of interior design, merging her cultural hub Saint Heron with IKEA for the new business venture.

According to a press statement, Knowles and IKEA’s co-curator Armina Mussa are joining forces to create original multimedia installations that creatively reflect on intersectional art and culture themes, foster thoughtful fellowship, and push the conversations of our communities to the forefront.

“Contemporary art is a huge part of people’s life today,” says Marcus Engman, Head of Design at IKEA Range & Supply. “At IKEA we are curious about the creative space in between architecture, design, art and music and how that could come alive in the homes of the many people. This is what we want to explore together with Saint Heron.”

The A Seat at the Table artist promises the collaboration will “[explore] architectural and design objects with multifunctional use.”

Knowles and her genius brand Saint Heron have previously lent their creative vision to Mickalene Thomas, Jacolby Satterwhite, Kenesha Sneed, and Phlemuns.

Jennifer Hudson Shares ‘I’ll Fight’ from ‘RBG’ Documentary

Jennifer Hudson lends her powerful voice to the CNN Films’ documentary RBG with a moving anthem called “I’ll Fight.”

Penned by legendary songwriter Diane Warren, Hudson doesn’t mind getting her hands dirty if it means fighting for what’s right. She sings, “I’ll fight / Fight that war for you / I’ll fight / Stand and defend you / Take your side / That’s what I’m here to do.”

According to a press release, RBG is a revelatory documentary exploring U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg ‘s exceptional life and career from Betsy West and Julie Cohen, and co-produced by Storyville Films and CNN Films.

Back in December 2017, Hudson released a new song “Burden Down.” She has also been selected to portray Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul in a biopic.

RBG is now playing in select theaters.

Brandy and Daniel Caesar Hit the Studio

Could producer Darhyl “DJ” Camper be the mastermind behind a Brandy and Daniel Caesar duet? According to Instagram, yes. The newly married musician shared studio moments on Thursday (April 19) as he had “revival” with “The Vocal Bible” and “Get You” crooner.

We haven’t heard much solo music from Brandy besides “Beggin and Pleading” and 2012’s Two Eleven, which deserved much more. Back in 2015, Camper revealed he and Brandy were working on a five-track EP. “It’s something refreshing. I’m not putting Brandy in the club. You won’t hear Brandy in the strip club or in elements like that,” said Camper. “When you think of Brandy now, think of stadium status or arenas. Think of like the movie 300 with the Romans. It’s going to be big and classic. That’s what I’m having her around this time around. If you think Coldplay is big, watch what Brandy does.”

As the new kid on the block, Caesar is enjoying his stroll around the music business. He recently released the music video for “Best Part” featuring H.E.R. and even charted on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart with his single “Get You” featuring Kali Uchis.

We can’t wait to hear more about this collaboration from this musical trinity.
