LeToya Luckett is now married to Taleo Coles.

The newlyweds, who grace the cover of Essence’s August 2024 digital issue, recently tied the knot in Luckett’s hometown, Houston.

According to Essence, approximately 200 guests attended the private ceremony, including Ms. Tina Knowles, LaTavia Roberson, Toya Wright-Rushing, Bryan-Michael Cox, and Bun B. Pastor Devon Franklin officiated the wedding.

Essence writer Shelby Stewart, who penned the cover story, shared the backstory of LeToya and Taleo’s relationship.

“They shared a mutual friend in Alexis ‘Lex’ White for 20 years, however, the timing was never right to explore a deeper connection. In 2022, their lives looked much different: LeToya was coming out of a divorce and Taleo happened to be in a relationship at the time,” Stewart wrote.

LeToya told Stewart that around September 2022, she prayed to seek “release from past issues and asking for a heart that was complete and whole.” She would later learn that Taleo was single while on a girls’ trip with Lex, who helped connect them.

“This man is truly my best friend, he is my homie,” LeToya told Essence about Taleo.

This marks LeToya’s third marriage. From 2017 to 2021, she was married to Tommicus Walker, with whom she shares a daughter and son. Before that, she was briefly married to Rob Hill Sr.

Speaking of husbands, LeToya stars in Lifetime‘s original movie, I Thought My Husband’s Wife Was Dead, which premieres Saturday, Aug. 3, at 8 p.m. local time. The thriller also stars stars Sherilyn Allen and Jamall Johnson.

The film follows Lola Winters (Sherilyn Allen), a wife and expectant mother, who is happily married to Leon Winters (Jamall Johnson) and runs a successful restaurant business.

Lola’s picturesque life gets shaken when Tori (LeToya Luckett), who had been missing for five years and presumed dead, shows up at her home searching for her husband, Leo.

“I decided to play this character because I felt her story deserved to be told, and there are people [who] may be suffering in silence or feel like they’re being treated unfairly in a marriage or any kind of relationship, and they don’t have the guts to speak up about it,” LeToya told The Breakfast Club.

In music news, it’s been seven years since LeToya released her last album, Back 2 Life.

“I wish that album would have garnered more ears than it did,” Luckett reflected to Rated R&B in a 2022 interview. “I was going through a transition in my life and felt myself growing. I wanted to share it on an album, and I felt like that was that album. It was kind of the closest to being an independent album for me. Instead of being with a major label, I had so much control of this album.”

When asked about a follow-up to Back 2 Life, she told Rated R&B, “I think I’m kinda traumatized from album three, but we’re gonna get over that. We’re in therapy (laughs). As far as creating new music, we’re gonna see. I did write it on my little vision board for this year. It was one of my goals. If it happens, you’ll be one of the first to know.”
