Listen to Musiq Soulchild and Marsha Ambrosius’ New Song ‘For Better For Worse’

After collaborating on “Feel the Real,” Musiq Soulchild and Marsha Ambrosius reunite on a new track called “For Better For Worse.”

On the track, Soulchild and Ambrosius get into an exchange about the ups and downs of a relationship. Soulchild shares his take from a man’s view, while Ambrosius gives her take from a woman’s perspective. “I hate the way you leave the toilet seat up, you so selfish,” Ambrosius sings. Soulchild responds with, “I’m used to being solo, all alone, so I can’t help it.”

Despite the all the compromising that comes with a relationship, it ends up being worth it. “For better, for worse / Even when you get on my nerves, baby / All the love you deserve / Don’t get no better or worse / And it better be worth it, baby / For better, for worse,” they sing.

There is no word on if “For Better For Worse” is from an upcoming project or is just a promotional track.

Jake&Papa Share New Song ‘Back To The Future’ Featuring Quincey White

Jake&Papa aren’t looking to go “Back to the Future” on their new track featuring rapper Quincey White.

On the melodramatic track, produced by Isaac Hayes, the duo put their best foot forward as they look to move on from a dissolved relationship. Quincey White adds a blazing verse, citing “once I love, I love hard.”

Jake&Papa explained the inspiration behind their new track. “‘Back to the Future’ is an ode to a classic movie and a figurative high-step over the classic I-want-that-old-thing-back maneuver,” the said in a statement. “The future that we once built is now the past, but we can’t go back there.”

“Back to the Future” is the first recording we’ve heard from Jake&Papa since their 2017 EP Tattoos&Blues, which included their lead single “Phones.”

Chaka Khan Shares New Song ‘Like Sugar’

Chaka Khan has released her new single, and it tastes “Like Sugar.”

Giving us a sickening bassline, a throbbing undertone beat and a high-energy of soul, the Queen of Funk fits right in line on the Switch-produced track. The legend fiercely sings about getting close to a dreamy guy, who she wants to put her funky groove on. “It’s like sugar/ So sweet/ Good enough to eat,” she sings.

“Like Sugar” follows her 2017 track “I Love Myself” featuring B. Slade. The fresh tune will appear on the long-awaited new album, which will be released on Switch’s new label imprint Diary Records. The album will mark Khan’s first studio album since 2007’s Grammy-winning Funk This.

Listen to Justin Love’s New EP ‘When Love Returns’

Rising singer Justin Love has released his new EP When Love Returns.

The nine-track offering, which features no guest appearances, is packed with radio-friendly melodies and laid back vibes. The project includes previously released tracks “Models” and “Bed Springs,” which has an accompanying visual. He even gives us a taste of his iSingHipHop, an alter ego he cites as his “bread and butter.”

In April, Love shared with Rated R&B the stories he wanted to tell on his new EP. “When Love Returns is literally the return of love,” he said. “I haven’t dropped material in a good two or three years because of a situation I was in. I was legally tied to working with other people I didn’t want to work with. I couldn’t blatantly say that to my fans, though. I could only hint that towards them at least at that time.”

He added, “Now, I can say whatever I want. I was just legally bound to people. When Love Returns is just the return of me showing the world that I’ve been working and I’m here to stay. I’m going to give a bunch of different vibes. They’re going to get a little iSingHipHop, which is my hip hop-singing shit.”

Love is currently working on his debut album, which will be released independently. He plans to support the album with a tour.
